Aging Gracefully
Every day at the gym I see old guys with big guts and minimal musculature. We’re talking 50’s and older. And I hear them talk about how they keep hurting themselves, either through trips/falls, turning just right (or wrong) and throwing out their backs, reaching for something and tearing a muscle… Frankly, I find them pathetic. If you don’t stretch every day, if you don’t exercise, and if you eat the standard American diet – you will get old. If you take care of yourself you can be what you want to be – which is fit. Which is looking like you are 10 or 20 years younger.
I am posting this because I want to point out what is possible – you can be old and extremely fit and healthy.
I also see old guys at the gym who have lost 50, 70, 120 pounds. Their knee and hip problems go away. They feel better. There is so much that one gains by just eating intelligently (if you are serious – go vegan), stretch every day, and workout.
Resources – read “Younger Next Year” and “How Not to Die”.
Stop talking about the health care crisis. It is not a health care crisis – it is an obesity crisis. It’s up to you – it starts with you – make a difference – be an example of what a healthy lifestyle can do!
The picture – that’s me at 65.
