Renovated Garage
The addition of the Pantera to our fleet justified (at least in my mind) finally getting a car lift. The first shots show the new, single-post lift, with a few details to give some idea of how it is built. For reference, all the bolts supplied to put the various pieces together were 3/4 inch grade 8. Overall it took about 20 hours to put it together, and about 20 hours to run the 220 volt power supply. This lift is also available in 110 - but the 220 option gives a higher duty cycle - so one can run it up and down as much as one wants. You might be able to tell in the pictures that I raised the garage door to make extra room for the cars.
This is a Gemini SP-4.5. It is rated for lifting 4500 pounds. The lift weighs 3600 pounds.
Then, well, as with kids, you can never have enough (or at least it seems some folks feel this way)! So, a Lotus Elise and an SPC Daytona coupe joined the festivities and the garage was feeling just plain tight. 3 weeks later the garage is expanded and another lift installed! WOW! Talk about a busy three weeks.
The new lift is a BendPak HD-9. We went this route another SP-4.5 would not as readily fit in the space available.
We also went back and worked on the garage door for the single-post lift. I figured out that if I added a section in the middle of the curve of the tracks I could move the door right up to the ceiling when it is open. Added another 6 inches available lifting room!
