Tid-Bit 24 - Mechanism Holders and Test Stands
Les McAlister sent in this one - he wrote: "The guy who made this must have been an engineer with a background in clock repair, as it does everything perfectly.
The 1" square dovetailed aluminium bar is 4 feet long and the mounting brackets are spaced perfectly to hit 16" center wall studs (smart). The little clamps are so strong that you can easily mount a 3-weight Vienna without stressing the assembly.
I found it when digging through a clock friend's pile of stuff in Michigan and saw it laying in the rubble. It was filthy, but I had never seen anything like it before or since and after mounting it, discarded all other holders but my large movement floor bracket. There is no manufacture information to be found on the assembly, but someone must have made more than one of these. If anyone ever decided to make more.....I would be a buyer for another. It is perfect!"
