After I have achieved a good color and overall “look” match, I use rubbing compound to polish the last coat of finish (to eliminate the glossy look), then wax to give the piece its final glow.
If all of this sounds like a lot of work, well, it goes faster after you have done 10 or 15 or 20. But, if you want to have replacement bits look original, it is well worth the effort. I have to admit I was very pleased with the final color and finish match from this project.
Of course, if you buy a clock from SNClocks, we offer our services in providing matching finials for clocks we sell at a very affordable price. One of the benefits of buying from SNClocks!
