A Becker Strike Train Challenge
None of us like a mechanism that runs in our shop, but then starts to miss-behave when the customer sets it up. I just had such a situation with a 3 weight Becker Vienna regulator, circa 1901. The quarter strike worked fine, the weights went down at the same rate, no problems for a week on my test stand. Ship it off, and I hear that it is being erratic in counting the quarters, and hanging up periodically.
The first shot if the front of the mechanism - a pretty standard turn of the century Becker 3 weight.

This picture shows a detail of the mechanism as I received it back. I knew when I set up the mechanism that the quarter strike arm had an adjustable spring clip holding the pawl, and had set it correctly when it was on my bench. The spring steel clip is held in place by a screw. In this picture you can see the miss-alignment at point A. This can be compared to the aligned pieces seen at point D on the next photo.
