The dial, with the subsidiary dials for the seconds, day of the month, and day of the week, is in near perfect, original condition. It is rare that a dial doesn't need to have any of the silver plating replaced, but this one was just too perfect, as can be seen in this photo. And, not surprisinig, the gold plate was also in perfect condition. And what an extensive use of the pierced and engraved mask around the hour chapter ring numbers! The gold plated trim around the numbers is not painted onto the dial, it is a separate piece of metal that has been engraved, and pierced (cut out) to leave only the very fine framework that you can see around the number. Truly and exceptional dial!
