VR-555 A very nice Altdeutsche R/A
OK - we all know SNClocks deals mostly (or nearly exclusively) in weight driven clocks. But, once in a while my buyer will find a really nice, really clean, really complete clock that we can just not pass up. Hence this wonderful little R/A. Measuring 39 inches to the top of the missing finial, this little gem was just too nice to let get away. And, when cleaned up it is stunning. I noted that it strikes on a single steel gong, which will give it a deep, imposing sound much "larger" than the clock would imply. And it is just so complete (well, except for that missing top finial and the end of one of the curved bits to the very top).
Yes, it is dusty, and yes, the case color darkened a bit when waxed out - it is gorgeous when seen in the flesh.
So, now let's look at how it turned out. The first pictures are the after shots, finial replaced, actually, I ended up replacing the two arched pieces to the very top because one was missing its tip. See what you think.
