VR-579 Beautifully Carved Austrian Vienna Regulator
Details – that is what really makes this clock special, all the wonderful details. The lions face to the center of the headpiece, the carved finials with beading in the place of a turned ridge, the wonderful turned and carved spindle to the bottom of the door columns, the key-locking door, the heavy and beautifully engraved mechanism brackets, the inset panel to the backboard, the lovely flowers carved into the buttresses to the sides of the base, all the original small bits (wall stabilizers, pulleys, hinges, beat scale), the near perfect dial with very few very fine hairlines that will disappear when cleaned, the Viennese mechanism with its watch-like quality… This really is a very nicely done Vienna Regulator!
Measuring 50 inches in length, the case is made of oak and very solid (not to mention heavy). And virtually complete – missing only a couple of the smallest pieces of trim – which will be replaced in oak so that you will not be able to tell they were ever missing.
