VR-505 Transational Viennese Timepiece
This Transitional-style Vienna Regulator is 43 inches long and has an exquisite, small Viennese mechanism, a zinc-backed bob, its original wall stabilizers (though I did not screw them in to shoot the pictures below) and is in overall excellent condition – if very dusty. This piece was made by Wilhelm Nadler of Schonbrunner Strasse No. 36 in Vienna. It is a bit amazing to find a dial with the makers address, but there you have it.
Wilhelm was listed at the address above in the 1872 and 1912 Vienna directories, but no longer listed in the 1920 version.
I would date this piece to the 1880’s. I am always amazed at the perfection of the small mechanisms from Vienna. I suspect this one will be a true dream to work on.
With its wonderfully unusual treatment to the sides of the door, its very nice and original finials, and exceptional finish, this clock will clean up beautifully. Whilst this piece originally had an ornate headpiece, it looks very nice and complete as is. It will be up to you to decide if you want an additional headpiece - and, if so, we will talk about how ornate the replacement will be. If we replace the headpiece it will match in color, finish, and be appropriate for this lovely clock.
This clock, delivered in the lower 48, cleaned, and ready to hang will cost $2,000
