VR-582 2 Weight Second Baroque By Becker
A very nice, very simple Second Baroque by Gustav Becker. 46 inches long, key-lock door, great case, excellent carving, very melodious gong sound on a long, single rod, and, a wonderful name on the dial! This is one of those clocks sold by a Viennese maker – Josef Sladkowsky, with an imported, Becker mechanism. The case, with its key lock door, wooden glazing strips around the window glass, and overall exceptional quality, is clearly Viennese. Claterbos lists Josef as being in Vienna in 1899, but not being listed in 1920.
Overall a very nice piece, in exceptional condition. It’s only real flaw is the missing tip of its headpiece, which will be repaired so it is no longer a problem before you receive the clock. Price, including shipping to the lower 48, and cleaning the mechanism: $2,700
