VR-580 Small 2 weight Vienna Regulator
A small German made Vienna Regulator. The case is exceptional, though rather dirty. At 34.5 inches long, with its original bottom finials, wonderful original glass (complete with ripples and small bubbles), zinc-backed bob (so, an early example of the Altdeutsche period – judging by the quality of the carving and mechanism, around 1870), original beat scale, wall stabilizers, and winding key – this will be a rather nice piece when cleaned up. When cleaned, the case will lighten up quite a bit, bringing out more of the beauty of the underlying wood. But, with its small, very nicely made German mechanism (of higher quality than a Becker), and very nice size, it will be a great example of the Altdeutsche period. This piece will cost $1,600 when cleaned up, including delivery in the lower 48.
