About Steve and SNClocks,LLC:
While I am, first and foremost, an antique clock collector, restorer, and conservator, I have also been a clock dealer for the last 13 years. Over the course of the last two decades my fascination has shifted from Anniversary clocks to English Long-Case clocks, and finally to Viennese Regulators. But, in fact, I should not really say finally: I am finding that I quite like Precision Regulators too!
I do not have a retail store: Most of my clock sales come through this website. And, in truth, I am still more of a collector than a dealer, but definately a collector who has found more wonderful clocks than I can fit in our home. This little problem led to our website - SNClocks.com - and, in the past, to Vienna Regulator auctions. Being a dealer has allowed me to keep some of the clocks and to develop friendships based on a shared fascination with the beautiful clocks made in nineteenth-century Austria and Germany.
In September of 2007 I was given the option to retire from my day job - as an engineer doing environmental cleanups. Since then I have been able to focus on this hobby gone mad, as well as on training others in the skills necessary to work on Vienna Regualtors. And, while we have in the past held 9 Vienna Regulator auctions, the business has now evolved to the point that the auctions no longer seem to happen. While the auctions are a great way to generate excitement, and to introduce new clocks, they are a lot of work, and require that a significant number of clocks be cleaned up enough that they will photograph well, and described such that people can bid on them.
SNClocks reputation and nubmer of repeat customers now keeps me busy just getting clocks ready to ship. Hence the addition of the "Barn Finds" section. We now sell clocks based on their as-received condition, with the understanding that we can and do bring them back to fantastic condition. This is one of the unusual things about SNClocks.com - we offer clocks that meet Steve's criteria for clocks that could go into his collection.

Clock Descriptions
Every effort has been made to accurately describe our clocks so that you can buy with confidence. I rely on the knowledge I have gathered over the years from numerous visits with the top European dealers, collectors, and museums, from the available literature on these clocks, and, most importantly, from handling hundreds of these clocks. I use this knowledge to accurately describe the authenticity of the clocks I offer. If you have questions, please send an e-mail to steve@snclocks.com. I will be happy to send you additional photos of clocks showing more details, and to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

Where We Find Our Clocks
We are often asked where we find these lovely antique clocks - since we seem to have a selection of Vienna Regulators the likes of which just isn't available anywhere else in the US. Our clocks are found by our experienced buyer in Salzburg, Austria. With over 20 years experience in the trade, our buyer has the necessary contacts to find lovely antique clocks in excellent, original condition. This is why you will see Vienna Regulators on this site with original finishes that are still in excellent condition - they have lived in European homes where central heat and cooling are not the norm, where cases are not damaged due to overly dry conditions, and where there really is an "Old World" ability to maintain and preserve antiques.

Our Auctions
Kelly and I have held 9 Vienna Regulator, and one Anniversary clock auctions! In the past we held one or two auctions each year, using the auctions as our venue for introducing new clocks to our site. As discussed above, our business is changing, and we currently don't plan to hold additional auctions. Please look at our as-found "Barn Finds" and e-mail us with questions on the ones you like!
