The true beauty is beginning to come through! Note the variation in colors on this case - of particular interest is the difference in color between the finials and the body of the case. I see this often, and believe it relates to the different materials used to finish the case - oil-based paints for faux-fhinshing while stains and apparently different paints were used to finish the finials. Clealry the finials have faded to a gorgeous walnut hue, while the case retains more of the original maroon tints. I love it when a clock case is in this stage - just before the final wax, which brings out all its beauty!
